Getting Down To Business: Lessons in Charter School Business Management

Published: April 18, 2018   |   No Comments  |  Read more

For business and community leaders, the quality of a public charter school relates directly to the educational success of the community. School success translates into efficient business management, high scoring marks, and positive community impact. When 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ asked what our member schools wanted to aid in attaining that success, school leaders, and board members overwhelmingly agree that they want the best information possible in every office and classroom. Research indicates that the most important factor contributing to a charter school’s success in the community is the quality of its education. Professional development is the most effective strategy schools and school districts have to meet this expectation.

We are truly saddened by the death of former Georgia Governor Zell Miller. Miller was a true champion for education. He helped pave the way for the more than 86,000 children who are enrolled in a Georgia charter school today. In 1993, he signed a law allowing for conversion charter schools. In 1998, Miller took an even larger step by signing an act that led to the creation of startup charter schools throughout Georgia. Twenty years later, we reflect on his life and legacy and are grateful for all that he did to benefit the state’s public school students.
