On Tuesday, March 27, fifteen Fulton Leadership Academy students attended a Morehouse School of Medicine lecture featuring Dr. Martin Chalfie, co-recipient of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the introduction of green fluorescent聽protein as a biological marker. Chalfie is a professor at Columbia University in the Department of Biological Sciences (pictured with Fulton Leadership Academy Students on the right).聽
After the lecture, students had the opportunity to visit with Dr. Chalfie, Nobel Laureate Dr. Torsten Wiesel,聽Drs. Peter and Marlene MacLeish (pictured below with students) and Morehouse School of Medicine president Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice. They were also featured in this 补谤迟颈肠濒别.听
“Our scholars were invited to attend this event by 聽Nobel Prize Recipients, Drs. Peter and Marlene MacLeish, who have earned acclaim for their work in neuroscience and health disparities research,” said Richardean Golden Anderson, Superintendent of Fulton Leadership Academy. “Our scholars have now expressed desires to become a Nobel Prize Recipients! We are forever grateful for this invaluable experience.”
Dr. Chalfie presented two lectures at the Morehouse School of Medicine. The lectures were part of a newly endowed lectureship created to honor Drs. Peter and c, two long-term Morehouse School of Medicine faculty members.聽
