The Georgia Charter Schools Association has just announced that Lisa McDonald of is the 2015 Charter School Leader of the Year, and that Brandom Jones of , is the 2015 Charter School Teacher of the Year.聽
Lisa McDonald聽worked as an educator for the聽Douglas County School System聽as a classroom and gifted resource teacher before founding and leading Brighten Academy in 2006.聽 Ms. McDonald聽earned聽her聽B.A. in Program Service Learning and聽her聽Gifted Education certification from聽Mercer University.聽She聽received聽her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education.聽
Brandom Jones is completing his ninth聽year in education as a Seventh聽Grade Mathematics Teacher at KIPP South Fulton Academy. 聽He has also taught at two other charter public schools — Ivy Preparatory Academy and DeKalb Academy of Technology and the Environment. Mr. Jones has a B.A. in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University and a M.A.T. and Ed.S. in Secondary Education from Mercer University.聽
