Veronica Crenshaw is dedicated to sharing her love and passion for students through her work in advocacy and dispute resolution. She currently serves as the Director of Special Education and IDEA Compliance at Georgia Cyber Academy. Previously, she worked with the Georgia Department of Education. Prior to those roles, she worked in the classroom with Teach For America-Alabama, Birmingham City Schools, and KIPP Metro Atlanta.
鈥淰eronica is instrumental in ensuring that our school is kept within compliance. She fights for what students need, mentors teachers for how to better serve students, and provides different options for families when a team doesn’t seem to come to a decision,鈥� said Doris Lagos, Special Education Principal at Georgia Cyber Academy. 鈥淰eronica is my go-to person for ensuring that I am providing appropriate responses to teachers and families in Special Education. I appreciate the undying support she always provides, with a smile on her face.
Veronica also currently serves as the founding board secretary for Atlanta SMART Academy and Board Bank Chair and Impacts and Measurements Committee member for the Junior League of Atlanta. Her goal is to ensure that students have access to a high-quality education that will place them on a more stable path to success in college and/or career. Her focus is to increase student access and promote creativity through STEAM and other innovative initiatives.
In her spare time, she likes to pursue her passion for law by seeking opportunities to make necessary voices heard in education policy. She has a vast skill set that includes effective written and verbal communication (both in English and Spanish), relationship building, and task management. She is a strong believer in equipping people with the tools necessary to empower themselves as a graduate of Fisk University and Cumberland School of Law.
