2020-2021 State Charter School Performance Summary
The State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia (SCSC) annually assesses state charter school performance in the areas of听academics, finance and operations听through its accountability instrument, the听. Performance standards align with the core components of strong charter schools and reflect the SCSC organizational mission to provide students with听产别迟迟别谤听educational opportunities than they would otherwise receive in traditional district schools. Each area of the framework answers a fundamental question through a series of indicators.
- Academic Performance:Is the school offering students a better educational opportunity than they would otherwise receive in the traditional district school?
- Financial Performance:Is the school financially viable?
- Operational Performance: Is the school as an organization effective, compliant and well-managed by the governing board?听
2020-21 Performance Highlights
A majority of state charter schools met performance standards in all sections (academics, finances and operations) of the SCSC CPF in the 2020-21 school year. Additionally, the percent of state charter schools meeting academic and financial performance standards increased from prior years.
- 87% (33 of 38) of state charter schools met academic performance standards in 2020-21, up from 76% in 2018-19 (Due to the COVID pandemic no academic data were available for the 2019-20 school year),听
- 92% of state charter schools met financial performance standards in 2020-21, up from 79% in 2019-20, and
- 79% of state charter schools met operational performance standards in 2020-21, which is down from 97% in 2019-20.听
