The Georgia Department of Education recently revised information regarding the $115.7 million in funding for school security needs and enhancements included in the amended FY 2023 budget. Initially,听guidance was given for each district to spend $50,000 for each school identified and appropriated in the budget by the legislature.听However, last week the department issued a听newly revised stating that “districts DO NOT have to allocate funding for each appropriated school.” Meanwhile, in听an accompanying听r, GaDOE said听districts are required to submit a budget per allocated school.
