On October 11, Gov. Nathan Deal announced that Fulton Leadership Academy is among six September recipients of the聽Innovation Fund Tiny Grant Award. The competitive grant award allows Georgia鈥檚 charter schools, traditional schools and school districts to move forward with small-scale programs that directly engage students.
After receiving the $7,000 grant, Fulton聽Leadership Academy plans to use training from Project Lead the Way (PLTW) to introduce a rigorous project-based learning curriculum to middle grades math and science. Project Lead the Way is an evidence-based curriculum that exposes students to real-world and applied learning experiences. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for college and future career opportunities by teaching them to develop communications and technical skills; think critically and creatively and to collaborate with their peers.
鈥淭he Innovation Fund Tiny Grant unites top educators to prepare students to聽engage in today鈥檚 most important academic areas,鈥� said Deal. 鈥淎s we invest in young minds and encourage them to reach their fullest potential, we must also invest in opportunities to develop and implement innovative classroom methods.
