The State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia (SCSC) 2020ÌýPetition Application is now available on theÌý.ÌýFor the 2020ÌýStart-Up Charter School ApplicationÌýCycle, new start-up charter schools must plan to open in the 2021-2022Ìýschool year or later. - Early Feedback Program:ÌýThe SCSCÌýÌýallows petitioners to receive feedback from the SCSC and make meaningful changes to their applications prior to final submission.Ìý
- EFP Registration Deadline: January 17,Ìý2020.Ìý
- Eligibility: To participate, a petitioning group must have:
- attended an SCSC Petitioner Bootcamp within the last 3 years;
- a governing board comprised of at least five members; and
- established a Georgia nonprofit and otherwise be an eligible charter school applicant in accordance with O.C.G.A 20-2-2-65.
- Webinars and Technical Assistance:ÌýThe SCSC willÌýhost two informational webinars on theÌý2020ÌýPetition application. These webinars will be recorded for those who are unable to attend live.

Important Reminders
- Updated and Revised Petition:ÌýTheÌý2020Ìýapplication and accompanying materials have been updated and revised since the previousÌýcycleÌý(do not copy and paste the content of a previous application into theÌý2020Ìýtemplate).
- Local Submission Requirements:ÌýMost petitions must also be submitted to the local board of education where the school will locate. Additionally, schools that designate a defined attendance zone (other than statewide) must submit a letter of intent to the local school district and the Georgia Department of Education prior to the applicable deadlines.ÌýIt is the responsibility of the charter petitioner to comply with local submission processes and timelines. - Online Application Submission:ÌýAllÌý2020Ìýapplication materials are hosted on the FluidReview petition platform, which can be accessed using the link on theÌýÌýpage of the SCSC website. Ìý
- Petition Deadline:ÌýApril 10, 2020, by 4:00 PM. The SCSC intends to approve or deny petitions at its meeting on July 29, 2020.
