罢丑别听听honored student performers from three public charter schools with cash prizes at the Fifth Annual听Charter Schools Rock, and听Charters Got Talent听student showcase, held Saturday, May 2 at Liberty Plaza, just across the street from the Georgia State Capitol.
Thirty student acts from charter schools across Georgia, competed at the high energy event which opens National Charter Schools Week (May 3-9).
鈥婩irst Place, and a cash prize of $1,000, went to singer听Jordan Jones, a 9th grade student who attends the听, an online charter high school.听Jordan lives in Columbus, Georgia and has auditioned for the popular tv talent show听The Voice.听She appreciates the flexibility of online learning as she pursues her education and a performing career. Jordan sang 鈥淕irl Crush鈥 by Little Big Town on Saturday and brought down the house. She has her eyes set on Columbus State University or Berklee College of Music.

鈥婼econd Place, and a cash prize of $500, went to听听Sounds of Royalty Band, last year鈥檚 Charter鈥檚 Got Talent grand prize winner. The much-heralded 45-member marching band was invited to perform in South Africa this past year.
Third Place, and a cash prize of $250, went to听听Percussion Ensemble, led by Mr. Daniel Isaacs. The dynamic group performed a powerful rendition of the 60鈥檚 classic 鈥淲ipeout.鈥
