About Atlanta SMART Academy
The mission of Atlanta SMART Academy is to use science, math and the arts to develop all students into innovative solutionists. Within an engaging, demanding, restorative school community, and with an unwavering focus on high academic growth, Atlanta SMART Academy equips every 5th-8th grade solutionist for success in high school, college and career.
Atlanta SMART Academy is a conduit from elementary school to high school where students develop the critical thinking skills to thrive in a constantly evolving society. We accomplish this by providing a well-rounded education through our four key innovations: project-based learning, extended time, arts-education and an advanced science and math curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Development
- Plan and deliver engaging theater arts lessons aligned with Georgia state standards and school curriculum goals
- Teach foundational and advanced concepts in acting, stagecraft, improvisation, script analysis, and performance
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning styles
- Integrate theater with core academic subjects where appropriate
Student Development
- Foster creativity, self-expression, and confidence in students
- Provide constructive feedback to support student growth in performance and technique
- Encourage teamwork, discipline, and professionalism through collaborative projects
Production & Performance
- Direct and produce school plays, showcases, and performances
- Coordinate auditions, rehearsals, and stage production elements (set, lighting, costumes, etc.)
- Engage students in both on-stage and technical theater roles
Collaboration & School Engagement
- Collaborate with faculty to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities
- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts, Drama, Education, or a related field
- Valid Georgia teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
- Experience teaching theater or performing arts to K–12 students
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
