Position OverviewÌý
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Social Studies teacher to join our team, a forward-thinking institution committed to providing students with a rigorous and engaging education. This role requires an educator who can inspire students to explore and connect historical, political, cultural, and geographical concepts to real-world situations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in implementing diverse, student-centered instructional strategies that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and interdisciplinary learning in a hands-on, technology-integrated classroom.Ìý This position reports to the School Principal and requires on-site presence at the school building.
Key ResponsibilitiesÌý
- Develop and implement engaging Social Studies lessons that align with state standards and promote the application of content to real-world issues.
- Incorporate diverse instructional strategies, including project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, and the integration of technology, to ensure deep student understanding.
- Design interdisciplinary lessons that connect Social Studies concepts with other subject areas, such as science, mathematics, and language arts, to highlight the interconnectedness of various disciplines.
- Regularly update and innovate the curriculum to keep students at the forefront of current global, national, and local events.
- Lead and design project-based learning experiences that allow students to apply Social Studies concepts to real-world situations, fostering problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Utilize technology and simulations to enhance understanding and provide students with interactive, immersive experiences.
- Guide students through research projects, debates, and presentations that require them to apply historical and contemporary perspectives to solve complex issues.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where students feel encouraged to take risks, ask questions, and explore new ideas.
- Implement student-centered instructional techniques that actively engage students in the learning process, encouraging autonomy, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to guide student growth and help identify areas for improvement.
- Use assessment data to differentiate instruction and offer personalized enrichment or interventions to support diverse learning needs.
- Actively engage in ongoing professional development opportunities, including workshops, conferences, and training, to remain current with best practices in Social Studies education and curriculum design.
- Perform other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
Qualifications
Certification
- Minimum of a T4-Certification in-field (6-12); OR
- Passed the GACE Assessment
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required
Work Experience
- Minimum 1 year teaching experience
- Charter school experience (preferred)
