Description
Performs related duties of a classroom teacher to provide continuity in the day-to-day responsibilities during the absence of the regular employee.ÌýÌýNote: Substitute employees are employed on an as needed; however, should plan to work daily on school days Monday-Friday.ÌýThere are no benefits associated with substitute employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages classroom and provides instructions according to plans as prepared by the classroom teacher
- Provide positive student behavior management techniquesÌý
- Provides classroom environment which promotes active learning in each subject area
- Actively supervise students during recess or break times
- Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
- Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
- Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
- Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale
- Other light duties as assigned by Principal, Operations, or Food ServiceÌý
- Work hours between 7:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Could vary based on school needs)
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Experience Qualifications
- None required; Experience working with children preferred
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
- May require stooping or crouching
